Hi I am Bargavi Krishnan
My story – My passion for the field of mental health has its roots during my early childhood. I realized that I possessed humanitarian values and a strong interest in the understanding of human mind and behaviour. That inspired my aspiration to become an efficient healer. I started to strengthen my theoretical foundation that has been a driving force for my academic achievements, including a B.S and MS psychology, MSW clinical social work, MPhil counseling psychology and MS Marriage and Family Therapy. Upon completing my graduations, for 8 years, I worked in various non-profit agencies, university and hospitals. I have provided therapy to clients ranging in age from 11 to 65.
Areas of specialty and interest: I primarily work (in-person/virtual) with Adolescents, Adults and older group who are struggling with a variety of issues including, but not limited to, Eating disorders, Substance use/alcohol disorder, abuse survivors, Sexual Addiction, grief, life transitions, behavioral issues, anxiety, Mood Disorders, depression, Internet Addiction, PTSD, developmental disorders, anger, oppositional defiance, trauma, Panic disorders, Abortion issues, relationship issues, and/or career/school stress. I strive to collaborate with parents to determine the most productive way to involve the family in a client’s treatment.
Treatment Modalities: I expertise and trained in various treatment modalities including Family/marital therapy, Psychodynamics, Family systems, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Motivational enhancement therapy (MET), Interviewing, Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Behavioral therapy, Group therapy, Dialectical (DBT), Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), Trauma focused, Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), Anger Management, Autogenic training, Narrative therapy, Anxiety Management, Stress Management and other different rehabilitations.
